Life Tectonic Series 2013-14

This work is an allegory of the exploration of my identity—the one created by ego, and my efforts to realize my identity through conscious choice.

This process of examining my own mind and my perceptions at times feels very much like volcanic activity—subaqueous, destructive and constructive at the same time. As present realizations pull away from past premises, a violent cycle of eruption and reformation of my self and my relationships occurs.

Paintings 2010-12

These paintings focused on imagery that deals with the early life of the universe, transitions of energy, states of matter, the effects of systems on each other and our desire to find order within them. This is the beginning of my focus on volcanic activity and other volatile natural occurrences that leads to the next series called Life Tectonic.
